Back in June, I started hearing some buzz about this event called the Harvest Supper. I didn’t much attention to it… I figured it was some expensive event that required tickets. Then, in July, Hope+Olive’s Soup&Games Night benefitted the Harvest Supper. Okay, so now I knew something was up. It turns out that the Harvest Supper is this awesome annual affair that highlights local foods to benefit the Greenfield Farmer’s Market coupon program. The coupons are distributed to low-income families to encourage them to shop at the Farmer’s Market. All the food for the supper is donated in-kind, and many businesses in Greenfield had collection jars for donations. The Harvest Supper is completely FREE and staffed by volunteers.

Despite (or in spite of) the rain today, the show went on as planned.

I wish I had more photos to show you but alas, between the rain and having our hands full with the kids, these were all we could manage.

June 21st may be the official, scientific start of summer but everyone knows that summer REALLY begins when the strawberries are out. Some friends clued us into Uppinngil Farm, in the town of Gill, just outside of Greenfield. We headed out this morning to pick some strawberries.

Afterwards, we headed over to the farm store and picked up some Uppinngil cheese and flour, and a carton of Diemand Farm eggs. The farm also sells their own grass-fed beef, and holds cheesemaking classes. Check out their website. http://www.upinngil.com/
